About Us

Welcome!

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) grew out of two movements seeking Christian unity that sprang up almost simultaneously in western Pennsylvania and Kentucky – movements that were backlashes against the rigid denominationalism of the early 1800s.

Thomas and Alexander Campbell, a Scottish Presbyterian father and son in Pennsylvania, rebelled against the dogmatic sectarianism that kept members of different denominations – and even factions within the same denomination – from partaking of the Lord’s Supper together.

Today, First Christian Church of Anniston, Alabama continues to carry on this ideal through the way we accept people from all congregations, nationalities, and philosophies. We agree to disagree, but we set these aside to worship and to love each other in Christ.

With that being said, what are we, FCCA, about?

As part of “A Movement for Wholeness in a Fragmented World,” we are a group of Christians who worship Christ in an atmosphere of unity; where each person comes to the Lord’s Table from different cultures and life experiences; where we agree to disagree about all kinds of topics; where we try to walk the line between having no political parties in church while also being socially aware and active in the world; and where we strive to answer God’s call into the world to be the kinds of Christians God wants us to be.

And more than anything, we welcome you, in all your perfection and imperfection!

So please, whether or not you’re LGBT, Hispanic, black, white, republican, democrat, liberal, happy, sad, male, female, trans, alien from outer space, a little lily, or used to be a frog, come sup with us at our Table. We would love to have you and welcome you into our growing family.
In goodwill,
