MIRACLE DAY IS JUNE 5TH IN ANNISTON, ALABAMA!

What is Miracle Day 2010?

The Christian Church in Alabama-Northwest Florida holds a Miracle Day every other summer, when volunteers from our 60+ congregations gather at one church to spend a full day working on their facilities in order to further their ministry.  Miracle Day 2010 will be held on June 5th at First Christian Church of Anniston, Alabama, as part of our 125th Anniversary celebrations.  We are especially excited that General Minister and President Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins will be with us all weekend.

Housing is still available for Miracle Day.  Rooms have been blocked for the night of June 4th, so you can come get an early start on Saturday morning.  We have 40 rooms blocked at The Victoria Inn till May 4th, and 20 rooms blocked at Country Inn & Suites in Oxford till May 24th.  The Victoria is about 3 blocks from the church, and the Country Inn & Suites is 10-15 minutes away.  The rate for both hotels is $65 plus tax, and it includes a hot breakfast.  Ask for the "Miracle Day 2010" rate when you make your reservation.  Both hotels are willing to extend this special rate to Saturday night, if you'd like to stay over to hear GMP Sharon Watkins preach on Sunday morning.  To reserve, call the Victoria at 256-236-0503 or Country Inn at 256-241-0950.

Projects

There are three major projects that we will be tackling on Miracle Day 2010.  They include Sanctuary Renovation, Neighborhood Prayer Garden, and Outside Beautification and Repair.

The complete plans for the sanctuary include lots of painting, replacing the carpet, re-finishing the wood floor and replacing the pew cushions.  On June 5th, we will just be doing the painting.

Our Neighborhood Prayer Garden will be constructed in a small lot behind the church.  We will be doing some major landscaping work, building benches, an altar and a wheelchair ramp, and installing a fountain.

The Outside projects include painting fences, railings and window trim, along with landscaping, minor construction projects and hopefully building a masonry base for a newly installed sign.

A large portion of the work to be done involves painting.  We hope everyone who comes will bring paint brushes, buckets, pans, rollers, etc.  We will also need some ladders and people who are comfortable painting up high.

We invite you to come help us get ready for June 5th on one of our Prep-Work Days:
May 8th -- Landscaping prep and Sanding and Wiping the Sanctuary Trim and Bead Board
May 15th -- Painting a first coat on the trim and bead board
May 22nd -- CANCELLED -- Second coat of paint not required.

Fund-Raising

Our fund-raising goal has been set at $40,000.  The Miracle Day Committee pledged $4450.00 themselves, so that got us 10% of the way there!  Checks should be made out to "FCC-Miracle Day" and mailed to First Christian Church, 1327 Leighton Avenue, Anniston, Alabama 36207.  Tommy Morgan is the Miracle Day Fund-Raising Coordinator.  Contact Tommy if you have any questions.

Our price-it-yourself Yard Sale on Saturday, March 27th raised over $800.00  Miracle Night (a Dinner and a Show) on Saturday, May 1st, raised over $1000.00.  We have surpassed the half-way point of $20,000!  But we still need the rest, preferably before we spend it for June 5th.  We will continue to receive gifts through August.
